ABOUT
It was 1997. Preston was eight years old. His mom was out of town, which meant one thing: Boys’ night. His father popped in a VHS tape, saying it was a "movie about a shark" Preston then spent the next two hours hiding under the couch cushions, scared to his bones and loving every minute of it. Experiencing Jaws for the first time, Preston knew what he wanted to do with his life: Tell stories and make people feel something powerful.
Now, 20 years later, Preston has already directed over fifteen film and video projects, including award-winning short films, commercials, and music videos. His style tends to focus on retro nostalgia and often includes large ensemble casts and unique, diverse stories with comedic overtones. Preston is also a professional producer and writer and has worked with clients and brands such as Hasbro, Mattel, Marvel, and Lucas Film to help bring their products to life in the advertising world. Recently, he has been on contract with LIT Videobooks as a producer and writer, working to adapt NY Times and Wallstreet Journal best-selling books into a unique new documentary/master class style format through the use of live action, animation, and archival.
In addition to filmmaking, Preston has a deep love of immersive experiences. He and his creative partner crafted the reservation-based Tidewater Cove, an immersive experience with food and libation pairings that transports guests into a fully themed smugglers’ cove in the southern bayou.
Preston graduated from the University Of North Carolina School Of The Arts and was one of ten students selected to major and study in the highly competitive directing program. He also studied comedy writing and directing during the inaugural year of the Second City's Harold Ramis Film School.
Though he spent most of his life living in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina, he now resides in Los Angeles, California, where he continues pursuing those dreams that started with an old VHS tape, a shark, and a pile of couch cushions.
Oh, did we mention his love of making wood-fired pizza?
